The Mission

The mission of the Love Your Neighbor Ministry at YCUCC is to enable refugees and other displaced people to establish new lives and regain hope, so that they become productive, contributing member of the community.

The Vision

YCUCC provides the structures that make it possible for each of us to welcome, empower, and provide opportunities for refugee and displaced people to be transformed economically, socially and spiritually.

Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ Galatians 6:2

Stephen Ministry is the one-to-one lay caring ministry that takes place in over 12,000 congregations, including Yorkville Congregational UCC. Stephen Ministry congregations equip and empower lay caregivers—called Stephen Ministers—to provide confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting.

If you or someone you know would like to find out how you could benefit from the continuing care of a Stephen Minister, talk with Stephen Leaders:

Lou Ann Hoffman, Carrie DeFuss or Pastor Mark Gregory.

Let one of the Stephen Leaders know if you would like to learn how you can share your gifts of listening and compassion by becoming a Stephen Minister.

GriefShare Ministry provides a means for open discussion for adults to share their experiences of grieving due to a loss in death of a loved one or close friend. GriefShare is a Christian based program which provides training to lay persons who meet with participants weekly.
